Lost In My Mind

I wrote this poem during the breakup between my ex and me. Feelings of sadness, loneliness, bitterness, and regret manifested themselves into this work. It marked the beginning of the end for me. Looking closer at this painting, with the shot out heart in the background, the sinister and anonymous almost absent look of the magazine cut outs, and the overall “mess” and fucked up feeling you get from it, it’s no wonder how broken hearts can bitter so easily. I didn’t want that to be my case, so I expressed it all into this piece. It’s one of my favorites because there is a lot of me in it… pieces of me I’d like to think I still have, and other pieces I had no choice but to leave behind.
